Community Energy in Rural Communities
In June 2026, Community Futures, in partnership with PS Research, a Lancashire-based research company, launched a Community Energy Survey and hosted a series of Rural Focus Groups. Supported by the Lancashire Association of Village and Community Halls (LAVCH), the project aimed to gather the views, experiences and insights of local communities on community energy.

Village halls, community buildings and parish councils from across Lancashire were invited to take part, helping to build a clearer picture of current awareness, opportunities and barriers relating to community energy.
The survey was open from 19 June to 31 August 2026 and three focus groups were held in village halls across Lancashire.
As a thank you for completing the survey, participants were able to enter a prize draw to win a £250 donation to the hall they represent.
We’re pleased to announce that the winner of the prize draw is…
Claughton Memorial Village Hall
Congratulations!
The prize draw winner was selected using a random name generator. A screen recording of the wheel generator and winner selection can be viewed below.

Thank you to everyone who took part in our Community Energy Project, whether by attending one of our rural focus groups or completing the survey.
