90 Years of Community Futures

Community Futures turned 90 years old in November 2024!

The Community Futures Team planned a special event in November to celebrate 90 years of service.

The event highlighted the work of the charity, showcasing nine decades of past achievements and current initiatives. It was an opportunity to reflect on the impact we’ve made and share our vision for the future.

Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund

We are so grateful that we had been awarded a grant from the Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund, which contributed towards the costs of our celebration. This generous support enabled us to commemorate our significant milestone.

What a Day to Remember!

Today, (21/11/2024) we came together to celebrate an incredible milestone – 90 years of our charity’s work in making a difference! The event was an absolute success, filled with laughter, yummy cake, and a real sense of community!

We’re very grateful to everyone who joined us.

Here’s to the next chapter of our journey.

Our Thanks,

Thank you to Danielle Cameron for capturing such great photos of our event.

Thank you to Kim from Mother Bears Bakes for creating such a beautiful and delicious cake for us to share with our attendees.

Thank you to Waitrose for the fantastic spread of food for lunch.

Thank you to everyone that attended, you all helped to make it such a magical event.

“What a great day you hall all organised yesterday. It was a lovely way to celebrate 90 years and, I think, everyone appreciated the enormous amount of work and research that had gone into making it the success it undoubtedly was.

As I was driving home, I was thinking that, not only was Community Futures a great organisation but one which creates cooperation and opportunities as well as long and lasting friendships. I have certainly valued my involvement hugely and made a lot of friends as well!

Please will you pass on my thanks to everyone involved for making the day such a memorable one and thank YOU for your welcome and hospitality. Please stay in touch. Best wishes, Ann.”

“I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the invite to your wonderful event today to celebrate 90 years of Community Futures. It was so wonderful to see the various projects that you have been involved in over the years and I think you certainly achieved what you set out to in the sense that there were lots of us going away saying, ‘we didn’t realise Community Futures did that!’ “

“What an enjoyable occasion it was on Thursday. Thank you very much for inviting me to share your historical landmark with several friends. The excellent displays spelt out the history of The Community Council of Lancashire which morphed into Community Futures. The founders of the organisation clearly had a vision in 1934 and were successful and if alive today, would be pleased with how CF has progressed. You are still meeting the needs of the community and having the courage to adapt to society’s changes. My thanks to all who have been involved in making Thursday such an enjoyable occasion.”
