Ready, Steady, Air Fry!

Ready, Steady, Air Fry!

with Beanstalk Business Centre CIC

“Funded by the Department of Education, WEA, and Skills for Life Multiply, our ‘Ready, Steady . . . Air Fry’ project offers practical numeracy training in cooking.

The program covers budget-friendly meals, meal planning, and nutrition. Through hands-on sessions, learners gain confidence, make healthier choices, reduce food waste, and build social connections.

Participants also receive a free air fryer, perfect for continuing healthy, budget-friendly cooking at home.”

Week 1

What an amazing start to our cooking journey! A big thank you to Kerry and Ve from Beanstalk Business Centre CIC for leading our first session and to the parents of Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School Preston who attended – we hope you had as much fun as we did!

This week, we had a blast making pizza toast – an affordable, easy, and energy efficient alternative to store bought pizzas!

We were also joined by our Family Support Officers, who will be sharing their skills with the children at our settings.

Week 2

Week 2 of Ready Steady Air Fry and what a session it was!

This week, we learnt how to make either bread and butter pudding or blueberry muffins – both smelt and tasted absolutely delicious!

Our Family Support Team are excited to try making the muffins in the air fryer with the children at Cool Kidz Roebuck and Cool Kidz Sacred Heart – two of our out-of-school clubs.

We also had fun applying some maths, adapting the recipes to make larger or smaller quantities and adjusting cooking times to 75% of the original.

Week 3

Another fantastic week with Kerry and Ve from Beanstalk Business Centre CIC.

This week we made delicious loaded potato skins and explored how meal planning can help with budgeting your grocery bill. It’s all about making the most of what you have whilst keeping meals both tasty and affordable.
