Our Projects

Lancashire Village Agent Service

We are thrilled to introduce the Lancashire Village Agents Service, funded by Lancashire County Council.

Village Agents are community-based practitioners who offer practical support to individuals and groups across rural areas. They help connect people with services, resources, and agencies to address a wide range of needs and challenges.

The role of a Village Agent might include, but is not limited to, supporting older adults, families, and caregivers who may not know where to begin when seeking help. Village Agents assist in locating relevant information and services. By collaborating with various agencies, they bring additional resources and expertise to ensure a holistic approach to rural wellbeing.

Community Futures has been commissioned by Lancashire County Council to develop a new programme that explores how to better connect people living in rural areas with existing support and services. Our goal is to raise awareness of the available support and link people with the right help at the right time. As the programme evolves, we’ll continue working with local partners and communities to ensure it reflects the real needs of rural residents.

Our Village Agents service is free and confidential, designed to make sure that those who need a bit of extra care and practical support receive it when they need it most. Many people living in rural areas are unaware of the help available – Village Agents are here to bridge that gap and build more resilient, connected communities.

Today, (Monday 13th October) all six of our newly appointed Village Agents have come together for their induction alongside Angela Barrago who is supporting the project design and delivery – a first step in preparing to begin their work across rural Lancashire.

This induction marks the start of an exciting journey as the team gets organised and prepares to step into their communities to listen, connect and make a real difference.

Over the coming weeks, our Village Agents will begin introducing themselves locally, building relationships and strengthening community connections from the ground up.

This is just the beginning and we can’t wait to see the impact they will make.

Stay tuned for future updates.
