#VillageHallsWeek is a national annual campaign, shining a spotlight on the contribution England’s 10,000+ village halls make to rural communities.
The annual week long celebration, organised by ACRE and the ACRE Network (England’s largest network of rural community support organisations), aims to raise the profile of village and community halls across the country, and is a big collective “thank you” to all the volunteers who work tirelessly to keep them open for the benefit of local residents, groups and rural businesses.
This year’s Village Halls Week will run from Monday 16th to Sunday 22nd March and the theme is connecting communities to health and wellbeing.
Village Halls are at the heart of rural life, playing a vital role in keeping people healthy, active, and connected. By providing spaces for exercise, social clubs, health sessions, and peer support, they help prevent isolation and promote wellbeing at every stage of life.
ACRE’s Village Halls Manager, Deborah Clarke said,
“We are pleased to share that the 10th Village Halls Week will highlight health and wellbeing. Volunteers managing halls play an essential role in connecting people and helping to create resilient, healthier rural communities. ACRE will share more details later in the New Year, but we expect the week’s campaign to highlight the NHS 5 steps to wellbeing.”
