Community Futures aims to develop and support balanced and sustainable communities throughout Lancashire.

The organisation is registered as Community Council of Lancashire but uses Community Futures as a working title. It was founded in 1934 in Manchester with the aim of relieving poverty during the depression years. The activity of the organisation has changed over time, but the focus has always been on the provision of services to support, develop and sustain community life.

Community Futures Warm Spaces Project

We are so pleased to announce that our application for ‘Community Futures Warm Spaces Project’ has been approved by Lancashire County Council.

Our warm space will be a welcoming, warm, safe place for adults of all ages to gather and enjoy some company.

Village Agents Pilot Project

This project is an important initiative for Lancashire’s rural communities. Village Agents support and empower the community spirit so characteristic of rural life, acting as a catalyst for community action, and responding to needs identified through community conversations.

Lancashire’s Parish and Town Councils Conference

Lancashire Rural Housing Enabler Update Our Rural Housing Enabler, Joe, attended the Lancashire Parish and Town Councils Conference on Saturday the 2nd November 2024. The event sparked valuable discussions about rural affordable housing, with representatives from five Parish Councils expressing significant interest in the Rural Housing Enabler (RHE) service. Village Agents Pilot Project – Focus Discussion Group. On Tuesday 8th October 2024, Ruth Abram – Project Outreach Officer and Denise Partington – CEO hosted our first Focus Discussion Group for the Village Agents Pilot Project in Newburgh. Broughton Scarecrow Festival!

From Broughton Parish Council “From October 21st to 25th, we invite all Broughton residents, businesses, schools, groups, and organisations to get creative and craft your best scarecrows! All of those who register, will be entered into a competition, with categories for: Winner will be announced on Saturday 26th October, at the Toll Bar Cottage. Let Broughton Scarecrow Festival!
